The best beaches in Epirus are some of the most beautiful and least crowded beaches in all of Greece.

Many of the most beautiful beaches in Epirus are located close to the coastal town of Parga. Parga is a stunning coastal town that looks like a Greek island and I highly recommend adding it as a destination to your trip if you’re in Epirus. Karavostasi Beach

Karavostasi Beach is one of Epirus’ most scenic coastal spots, known for its wide shoreline and striking turquoise waters. Unlike smaller coves, Karavostasi offers plenty of space, so it never feels overly busy, even during peak season. When we visiting in August of 2025 there were very few people there. It almost felt like a private beach because of its size. The beach is framed by lush green hills, creating a dramatic contrast with the bright blue sea.

The water here is clean and gently sloping, making it ideal for swimming and relaxing. A handful of tavernas and cafés nearby provide easy access to food and drinks without overwhelming the natural setting. Karavostasi is especially peaceful in the early morning and at sunset, when the beach feels almost untouched.

Valtos Beach

Located just outside the charming town of Parga, Valtos Beach is one of the most beautiful and accessible beaches in Epirus. Stretching for over a kilometer along the Ionian Sea, this long sandy beach offers crystal-clear turquoise water, scenic mountain views, and plenty of space to relax.

Although it’s one of the more popular beaches near Parga, Valtos rarely feels overcrowded because of its size. Visitors can easily walk to the beach from Parga in about 15 minutes by following the coastal path, which offers stunning views of the town and its famous Venetian castle along the way.

Valtos Beach is a great option for travelers who want a mix of natural beauty and convenience. The beach has several beach bars, restaurants, and water sports available, but there are still quieter areas where you can lay your towel and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.

Thanks to its calm, clear water and soft sand, Valtos is also one of the most family-friendly beaches in Epirus. Whether you’re looking to swim, rent a kayak, or simply relax by the sea, it’s easy to spend an entire day enjoying this beautiful stretch of coastline.

Located just a 5 minute drive south of Parga, Lichnos Beach is one of the most beautiful beaches in Epirus and a favorite among visitors looking for clear water and scenic surroundings.

The beach is known for its long stretch of golden sand and pebbles, backed by green hills and olive groves that create a peaceful setting along the Ionian Sea. The water here is incredibly clear and calm, making it perfect for swimming and snorkeling.

While Lichnos has a few beach bars and tavernas where you can enjoy a meal with a view, it still manages to feel more relaxed than many of the busier beaches in Greece. Its easy access from Parga combined with its natural beauty makes Lichnos Beach a perfect stop when exploring the coastline of the Epirus Riviera.

Tip: If you walk toward the edges of the beach or visit early in the morning, you can often find quieter spots away from the main beach area.

Ammoudia Beach

Ammoudia Beach sits at the mouth of the Acheron River, blending river and sea landscapes in a uniquely tranquil setting. This beach has a relaxed, local feel and is rarely crowded, even in midsummer and has lots of parking unlike most Greek beaches. The sandy shoreline is long and flat, perfect for leisurely walks and stress-free beach days.

Ammoudia is also ideal for families and travelers who prefer shallow swimming areas. I had to walk over 30 meters before the water was even at my waist.

If you have time, it’s worth taking the Acheron River boat cruise. It’s a great way to break up the beach day and discover something new. Our kids were almost 2 and 4 at the time and they loved it. We ended up driving to Acheron River another day to get right to most beautiful part as the water is shallower there and the boat can’t get there.

Megali Ammos Beach

Megali Ammos, which translates to “Big Sand,” lives up to its name with a wide, open shoreline. Despite its size and beauty, it remains relatively quiet compared to more famous Greek beaches. Visitors tend to spread out, creating a peaceful atmosphere even during the busy summer months.

Megali Ammos is perfect for travelers who want space, comfort, and stunning coastal views. We also had some of the best food here at the Ionian Fish Restaurant. Their marinated anchovies (gavros marinatos) with dill were to die for.

The water here is exceptionally clear, making it great for swimming and snorkeling. Facilities are minimal, which helps preserve its quiet charm, so it’s best to come prepared. Agia Paraskevi is perfect for travelers seeking solitude and a slower pace along the Epirus coastline.
