Best Restaurants in Syvota Greece (& Places I’d Skip)

If you’re looking for the best restaurants in Syvota Greece, you’re in the right place. I spent a week in Syvota for the first time last summer and made it my mission to try as many restaurants, tavernas, cafés, and waterfront spots as possible. From fresh seafood served right on the marina to family-run tavernas tucked away from the crowds, I quickly discovered that this small seaside village has a surprisingly good food scene.

Not every restaurant lived up to the hype, though. While some became instant favorites that I would happily return to, others left me underwhelmed despite their glowing reviews. That’s why this guide isn’t just another generic roundup—it’s based on my own experience eating my way around Syvota over the course of a week.

In this guide, I’ll share my tried-and-tested favorite restaurants in Syvota after spending a week eating my way around town and the surrounding beaches. I’ll also mention a few places that didn’t quite meet my expectations, so you can make the most of your time (and budget) while visiting this beautiful corner of Epirus.

The 6 Best Restaurants in Syvota

Without further ado, these are my top picks for the best restaurants in Syvota, that you need to try.

Το Διαπόρι (Diapori)

Diapori was hands down my favorite restaurant in Syvota and the one I would recommend first to anyone visiting. If you love traditional Greek mezedes and don’t mind a more laid-back dining experience, this place is absolutely worth the wait.

The restaurant is tiny and has a unique setup, with just a handful of tables lining a narrow walking path. Because of its size and popularity, it’s common to wait for a table during peak hours. We were also warned that the food would take around 40 minutes to arrive. Since we were traveling with our three kids, my husband took the boys for a walk while I waited with the baby. Thankfully, the food ended up arriving in about 30 minutes.

The menu is designed for sharing, so I recommend ordering several mezedes for the table. Some of our favorite dishes were the grilled eggplant, octopus salad, and marinated anchovies. Everything tasted incredibly fresh and full of flavor, and it was one of those meals where every dish was better than the last.

While the service can be slow during busy periods, the quality of the food more than makes up for it. If you’re only able to eat at one restaurant in Syvota, make it Diapori.

Castelio

Castelio was the last restaurant we tried in Syvota, and honestly, I wish we had discovered it sooner because I would have happily gone back a second time.

Located a little farther back from the busy waterfront, Castelio has a quieter and more relaxed atmosphere than many of the restaurants along the marina. If you’re looking for a break from the crowds while still enjoying excellent Greek food, this is a great choice.

The reason we decided to eat here was the menu. They offered both soutzoukakia and pork kontosouvli, two traditional Greek dishes that aren’t always easy to find on every menu in Syvota. Both were excellent and ended up being some of our favorite meals of the trip. The soutzoukakia were flavorful and perfectly seasoned, while the pork kontosouvli was tender, juicy, and cooked just right.

Another thing that stood out was the service. We were traveling with our children, and our waiter was incredibly friendly and welcoming with the kids, which always makes dining out easier as a family.

Ostria

Ostria was located just steps from our hotel, making it a convenient option for dinner. Compared to many of the traditional tavernas in Syvota, the menu is slightly more upscale and includes a few more creative takes on Greek dishes.

One of my favorite dishes was the avocado salad with mango sauce, which was a nice change from the standard Greek salads we had been eating throughout the trip. I also enjoyed the oven-baked lamb, which was tender and full of flavor.

The restaurant is set in a courtyard away from the waterfront, giving it a quieter atmosphere than many of the restaurants along the marina. If you’re looking for something a little different from the typical taverna experience while still enjoying Greek cuisine, Ostria is a good choice.

Melenio

If you’re looking for dessert in Syvota, Melenio is worth a stop. We visited for waffles and ice cream, and both were a hit with our family.

I ordered the waffles with white chocolate, which were delicious and easily one of my favorite desserts of the trip. My husband went for the ice cream and loved it as well.

Whether you’re looking for a sweet treat after dinner or a break from the afternoon heat, Melenio is a good option to add to your list.

Stavedo Beach Kitchen Bar

Zeri Beach in Syvota (not the best beach), but worth it for the pizza at Stavedo Beach Kitchen Bar.

Located at Zeri Beach, Stavedo Beach Kitchen Bar is a place you cannot leave Syvota without trying. Trust me—the pizza is that good.

While Zeri Beach wasn’t our favorite beach in Syvota, as the lounge chairs are set back on the grass rather than right by the water, we still came back during our week-long trip specifically because we had to have the pizza again.

They have a wood-fired oven, and for some reason I don’t think they even realize how incredible their pizza is. It was some of the best pizza I’ve had in my life, and I’ve been to Italy twice, so that’s saying something. The crust was perfectly cooked, the toppings were fresh, and every bite was worth the return trip.

Even if Zeri Beach isn’t at the top of your beach list, make sure Stavedo Beach Kitchen Bar is on your restaurant list.

Ionion Fish Restaurant

Located on Megali Ammos Beach, Ionion Fish Restaurant completely exceeded our expectations. When I think of beach restaurants, I usually picture a decent spot with okay food and nice views. We came here on our first beach day in Syvota with no expectations and were absolutely blown away. It was definitely the best restaurant in Syvota.

The marinated anchovies with dill were one of the standout dishes of our entire trip. They were so good that even our three-year-old couldn’t stop eating them. We also loved the Navagio salad, which was fresh, flavorful, and the perfect dish for a hot beach day.

If seafood isn’t your thing, don’t overlook the grilled meats. The portions were massive, and everything we ordered was cooked perfectly. Honestly, every single dish we tried was excellent.

I’ve been to Greece more than 20 times, and I would easily put Ionion Fish Restaurant among the best restaurants I’ve eaten at in Greece. We enjoyed it so much that we made a point of returning to Megali Ammos Beach later in the week just so we could eat here again. No regrets here.

And if it isn’t obvious by now, a lot of our trips are planned around where we want to eat 😅.

Restaurants I’d Skip Next Time

While most of the restaurants we tried in Syvota were excellent, a few left us feeling underwhelmed. Since you likely only have a handful of meals during your trip, I think it’s just as helpful to share the restaurants I wouldn’t rush back to as it is to share my favorites.

Charlie’s

Charlie’s was one of the restaurants we were most looking forward to trying, but it ended up being one of the more disappointing meals of our trip.

Compared to some of the other restaurants in Syvota, it felt a bit more geared toward tourists, and unfortunately several of the dishes we wanted to order were unavailable when we visited. As a result, we ended up choosing different items than we had originally planned, and none of them really stood out.

The food wasn’t bad, but considering the reviews and recommendations, we left feeling underwhelmed. With so many excellent restaurants in Syvota, there are other places I would prioritize before returning to Charlie’s.

Steak House

Steak House was another restaurant that didn’t quite live up to our expectations. We visited with a group of around 15 people and ended up ordering a wide variety of dishes, which gave us a good opportunity to sample a lot of the menu.

Before visiting, we had seen some impressive food photos in the reviews, so our expectations were fairly high. Unfortunately, while everything was perfectly fine, nothing really stood out. There wasn’t a single dish that wowed us or made us want to come back for a second visit.

To be clear, the food wasn’t bad by any means—it just didn’t measure up to some of the other restaurants we tried in Syvota. With so many great dining options in town, this was one of the few places that felt a little underwhelming compared to the hype.

Mediterraneo Pizzeria

As a family that loves pizza, Mediterraneo Pizzeria was one of the first restaurants we tried in Syvota. Unfortunately, it ended up being our least favorite meal of the entire trip.

The biggest issue for us was the crust. The dough was quite thick, but not in a deliciously decadent deep-dish kind of way. Instead, we found it heavy and lacking the texture we were hoping for. The toppings were fine, but the quality didn’t stand out and nothing really wowed us.

To be fair, the pizza wasn’t bad, but it was one of those meals that we finished and never thought about again. With so many great restaurants in Syvota, it simply didn’t stand out compared to the other places we ate during our week-long stay.

Everyone’s taste is different, but for us, this was the most underwhelming meal of the trip.

If there’s one thing we’ve learned from our travels, it’s that great food can make a good trip even better. Hopefully this guide helps you find some memorable meals in Syvota, and avoid a few disappointments along the way.
